Front Panel Conversion CAT1005

The availability of the front panel for these cars is almost non existent, you may occasionally come across a genuine one or you can get the panel already converted, but it will be in the region of at least £450. A lot of cars have been scrapped because of this, which to me is not right. The front panel is the same as a normal Mini except for the centre bit and the indicator holes, so why not convert a normal front panel at a fraction of the cost. It is a reasonably straight forward job, and with a good amount of care and patience no one will ever be able to tell the difference. Guidance on how I completed the task is available here - www.catmint.biz/html/frontpanel/frontpanel.htm (copy and paste or follow the link at the bottom of the page), to give you an idea as to what is involved. Completed cost should be in the region of £200. Produced in zinctec coated steel, you can weld straight though the coating and is a great base for an etch primer. The panels is made from jigs built around a good front panel so the complex curves are pretty close to original

The panel includes paper template for locating the indicator and air intake holes.

Please feel free to print out the guidance page to help you along the way

A point to note - recently I have been getting reports back that some mini front panels are incorrect in the curvature around the indicator hole when the chrome surround is offered up - please check this area as you modify so you can adjust the front panel to match.

Finish = Zinctec coated/carrier coat
